Alongside her career in marketing, Sam is a highly experienced public speaker. She has worked on TV and Radio, given a TEDx talk (as Samphire Amps) and was a speaker coach and curator for TEDx Truro. She is now using that experience to offer one-to-one coaching to anyone wanting to improve their confidence and performance when standing up in front of a crowd.
Sam’s parallel career as a Freediver, teaching up to Instructor level and competing and coaching with the UK Team, led to many opportunities to speak and present on her sport. Working on shows with TV presenters including Michael Mosley, Steve Backshall, Alice Roberts and Nick Baker, Sam helped explain Freediving to a wider audience and broaden understanding about the sport and the physiology associated with it. Radio projects have included a spoken word essay for John Humphreys on Radio 4 and a major role in Jarvis Cocker’s Wireless Nights, when the episode focused on the underwater world.
Closer to home, Sam’s TEDx Talk “Under Pressure and Under Control” opened the very first TEDx Truro event in 2016. From 2018-2020 she joined the TEDx volunteer team as a speaker coach, and acted as host presenter for day of talks. In 2025, Sam was one of the speakers at the first Holistic Her event in Cornwall.
